It?s really no surprise that many people would have an interest in living in Spain. After all, Spain has an amazing climate and year long temperature, which actually is a driving force for people in Northern Europe to move to this region and cozy up to the colorful Spanish culture.

Another reason that people will commonly move to Spain is for work or family related reasons such as a job transfer or whatnot. In this case you?ll have to become knowledgeable about various topics such as work permits as well residency permits. Also, you?ll need to know the language of the land, which obviously is Spanish, so studying for this beforehand would be a bright idea.

Regarding relocation to Spain for job purposes, you can actually make this a much more smooth transition by utilizing the services of one of the many relocation companies. These are companies that offer a staff of multi lingual individuals to assist you in such tasks as finding your home, finding a school for your kids, help with registering vehicles, as well as getting your residency permits. They can also help you extensively in becoming familiar with different aspects of the Spanish culture itself.

If you do have to begin working in Spain, you?ll need to obtain certain permits for this. The different kinds of permits depends on the amount of time you?ll be doing the work, as well as the type of work that you?ll actually be doing.

For those conducting seasonal work, you?ll need a permit known as the Type A Permit. This type of permit is good for 9 months and is usually limited only to certain geographical areas.

A permit that?s given for a longer period of time is the Type B permit, which is actually the initial work permit. These are for specific types of professions as well as specific areas. These are valid for 1 year but can be renewed for two years max.

Now, a C type of permit is good for any type of job. These are region restricted at all and are usually valid for up to three years.

The next type of permit is the Type D permit, which is for those people who are self employed. These also, like the Type B permit are valid for one year but can be made valid for two years at renewal if necessary. These as well can be limited only to certain geographic areas

A permit that?s valid for up to three years, that has no geographic limitation is the E permit.

Type E Permits have no geographic limitation. These are valid for up to three years.

If after a Type C or Type E work permit expires and you still need a permit to work that has no limit on geography then you can file for a permanent work permit, which is for both employed and self employed individuals.

My college years were spent dreading the day I would be released into the American workforce, an act in itself a forerunner to depression. Although my experience and GPA may have looked good on paper, I knew in my heart that my employer, the keen eye that he’d have, would invariably figure out that I had learned nothing over my four years and kick me to the curb, asking me politely?as if a restaurant?never to come back to blue-collar America again. My colleagues would stand there, in their pressed suits and shiny shoes, looking out over the walls of their cubicles and whisper amongst themselves. “He wasn’t cut out for this,” they’d say. “The guy never even wore a suit”.

I’m 24 which, although it may seem young is over one hundred in dog years. I originally came to work in Panama after graduation because, as most innovative decisions are made, there was nothing better to do. I wouldn’t have fit in working nine to five and I certainly could not tolerate another Jersey winter of frost on the windshield or ice on the driveway. Panama was just a country with a Canal to me back then?every one of its people, in my vision, showing the pock-marked face of Noriega and the bat-swinging prowess of Rod Carew. The moment I stepped off the airplane though, realizing that none of my preconceived notions were true, I knew this country was the place for me. I knew this because in the airport terminal I found a brand new twenty dollar bill which, on its most basic levels, assured me that I didn’t need to find a job.

There’s a very defined gap between knowing you don’t want a traditional office job and actually knowing what kind of job you do want, and it appeared that my foot was stuck in it. When it came to figuring out what I was going to do, nothing was clear-cut. “Anything’s possible” my parents used to tell me “if you put your mind to it”. But after a number of broken limbs and about forty five cents in loose change wandering through the tubes of my digestive track, I realized this wasn’t so true. The circumstances I found in Panama though, were to give credence to my parent’s metaphorical advice.

The opportunities that I came across seemed to be abound. Because the country’s tourism and real estate sectors were (and still are) so young, they seemed to be the perfect avenues to explore. With a background in internet marketing and long-fantasized career as a travel writer, my options in Panama became about as vast as the gulf that separated me from my home. Several other expat friends I know occupied various jobs, from the pool business, to real estate, to restaurants, to hotels.

Having noticed a lack of written information on the country, I set out to do something different. Over the exciting course of my first year, I spent every waking moment documenting the isthmus. I wrote about the people, the provinces. I wrote about the food, the flowers. I wrote about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Too often, I feel, travel information is not real enough, it’s not entirely honest. Sure the guidebooks and the websites will tell you about the cupcakes and the birthday parties, but what about the kid who peed in the lemonade cooler or worse, the kid that drank it? They never tell you that stuff, being the bona fide things that you may encounter upon traveling to a new country. I set out to create a website to reveal all pieces of the puzzle. From hotels, to restaurants, to real estate, to tours, I set out to create a website to warn people about the proverbial lemonade.

My creation, The Panama Report was a modest hit right off the bat. People enjoyed the fact that the site was up-front, no strings attached, not overly salesy or negative as some other sites tend to be. Eventually over time it earned a reputation for being something unique and today, my consulting work for various tourism and real estate enterprises is a testament to its success. Could I every have made it this way at home? Maybe. But it would have definitely been a lot harder: more competition, more investment, more luck. But I prefer the way I live down here. Maybe my friends were right, that I wasn’t cut out for the hustle and bustle of nine-to-five office life. Maybe I wasn’t cut out for the cubicles or struggle or even life in the States at all.

I’m sure I’ll make it home some day. But for now, traveling around this amazing country and sharing my travels with others is good enough for me. Because after all, isn’t work for people who have nothing better to do?

Choosing a reliable Boston moving company is not as hard as you may think. With so many companies available, all you have to do is take your time and then make the right decision based on your research. There are some people who choose the first Boston moving company that they come across and love the service they get. Then there is another group who does not do the appropriate amount of research, and in turn get the bad end of the stick.

In order to avoid any problems, follow the tips below when choosing a Boston moving company. These tips will help you to find a reliable company that will work with you to meet all your needs.

1. First and foremost you will want to get referrals from the Boston moving companies that you are interested in. You can do this simply enough by asking the company. If they cannot give you referrals you may simply want to move onto another option. It is always a good idea to speak with somebody who has used the service before. This way you can get a first hand opinion as to the service, safety, and overall competence of the movers.

2. Do not jump the gun when trying to find movers. You should call around to several Boston moving companies, and more or less interview each one. Tell them what your situation is, as well as what you are looking to accomplish. This way you can get their feedback which will make your decision much easier in the end.

3. Even though price should not be a determining factor it is something that you need to consider. To get the best price you will want to shop around. In other words, call several different Boston moving companies and ask them what their price is for a job of your size. When you are finished with this process you will then know what company offers the best rates. Remember, price and reliability do not necessarily go hand in hand.

4. Find out what each Boston moving companies policy is on broken items. Even though this is something that will try to be avoided, the fact of the matter is that damaged items can happen. A reliable company will tell you that they take responsibility for anything that is damaged due to their negligence.

Overall, choosing a reliable Boston moving company is more than possible. Follow the four tips above to help you during the decision making process.

If you are moving across the country or just across town, using a truck rental may be an option that you have looked in to. Renting a truck is the best and easiest option to transport your belongings. You can find many rental services that offer moving truck rentals. Rather than having to round up every truck you can get your hands on and a ton of friends to drive and load, a single large moving truck on a lease can solve a lot of problems.

Before running out and leasing a big moving truck, however, it’s a good idea to assess what you really need. In a world where many people own smaller vehicles and larger homes, moving truck rentals have become a popular choice when it comes time to relocate belongings to a new home or office. Before you even begin to look into renting a moving truck, there are some things that need to be considered. Some important points you should consider before you choose which truck rental service to work with.

Millions of persons, families and companies relocate to a new home or office every year. Many car rental companies offer special services, one of the most popular is the one way truck rental. Most rental companies pride themselves on having dependable transportation for rent; however, it will be in your best interest to check things like the door latches, locks and tires.

Budget Truck Rental and other companies have what they call commercial rental divisions, where they handle truck rental and leasing to all manner of commercial enterprises. But some of those same companies that you might associate with do it yourself movers also rent over the road semi tractor trailer combinations to individuals and companies who have qualifying CDL licenses.

But, you have probably heard the horror stories about people who have used a truck rental company and the truck was not available when they went to pick it up, or the truck broke down on the road, etc. You may even find that a small local truck rental company will give you the best service and price-especially if you are moving in town. It helps to know the history of the company before attempting to get them as a client.

Look for a company that has high standards for their trucks as well as their towing equipment, this may be more expensive, but worth it in the long run. The rental company will have a standard form for you to fill out.

Two Months Before Moving

  * Compare moving company options and service and costs. Select your packing and moving service. * Make an inventory of all household items to be moved usually with a representative of the company. * Research automobile movers and requirements then set dates for their transfer. o Request and sign for release of all medical and dental records as well as prescriptions for your family and pet(s). Ask for doctor, dentist and veterinarian recommendations in your new city. * Arrange to have school records transferred. * Check to see if your will needs to be updated or edited when moving across state lines. * Call your insurance agent to see what policy changes will result from your move. Notify the insurance of your new address as soon as you have it and check on grace periods. * Contact member organization, health clubs, yacht or country clubs you have joined. Ask how you can end, sell, or transfer your memberships. * Make or update your list of friends, relatives, businesses, subscriptions and credit card companies who need to be notified of your move. * Decide what furniture, household items, clothing, etc. to get rid of and do so. * Donate unwanted items to a local charity. Save receipts for your tax records. * Plan to use up or dispose of items that cannot be moved, candles, flammables, plants and wine.
Back to Top One Month Before Moving

  * Review moving plans with your moving company representative. Be sure to cover insurance for packing and unpacking, arrival date and if arrivals do not happen as planned, payment agreements, shipping papers, etc. * Make special arrangements for the moving of perishables such as plants and fragile items like paintings, chandeliers, etc. a specialty crating company may have to pack these items. * Call your newspaper carrier, lawn service, pool cleaner, garbage pick-up, security company, snow removal service, etc. and set a date to cancel your service if your property is sold. Arrange for continued service if still on the market and have contacts so you can cancel after you close on the property. * Return any items on loan such as DVD’s and library books. * Pick up all dry cleaning and any items that are out for repair * Make sure that all flammables, combustibles and poisons are properly disposed of. The size of the carrier is also strictly regulated and may have to be larger than you may generally use.

Back to Top One Week Before Moving

  * Make sure all family and friends, that you want to keep in touch with, know your new address and phone numbers. * Arrange to have cell phone numbers changed to new area code, this can often be done very easily if you are keeping the same service provider. Keep charging cords in your overnight bags. * Arrange for a house cleaning service to clean your home and prepare it for the move. Have the refrigerator emptied and cleaned at least 24 hours before moving day. The freezer should also be thawed. * Fill any necessary prescriptions, medications needed for your family and pet(s) for the next two weeks. * Pack any valuables you intend to take with you personally. * Prepare specific directions to your new home for your moving company, including your travel itinerary and emergency numbers. Be sure to leave a copy of this information with someone you trust. * Notify neighbors and your security company if your home will remain vacant upon your departure and give them your new contact information as well as a local family member or friend. * Gather all keys to the house and arrange to leave them with the new owners of your home or your realtor. * Have currency on hand for day of move.

It is best not leave until after the movers have gone. Lock up carefully and set security system. * Hire a sitter to watch the kids or send them to a friend’s house for the day. * Tell packers and drivers about fragile or precious items again. * Check the mover’s inventory to see that you agree with the mover’s judgment on the condition of your household goods * Take photographs if there is a dispute. Check the inventory for completeness before you sign the Bill of Lading. Retain a copy of the signed inventory for your records. * Double check with the driver to make certain moving company records show the proper delivery address for your new house. Verify the scheduled delivery date. * Walk through every room and check every closet as well as your garage and yard to see if anything was forgotten. * Make sure that any valuables are being safely transported. Don’t forget any items that you are going to transport on your own. * Give the driver a phone number to contact you in the case of a problem. * Be sure to leave all keys, garage door openers, warranties, remote controllers, etc. for the new homeowner or realtor. * Turn off water and lights and set the thermostat at 60 degrees in winter and 76 degrees in the summer. Lock windows and doors.

Moving can be a daunting task amid an otherwise exciting time. Whether moving across the country or down the street, moving requires organization, time, and a lot of work. While hiring a New York mover can make the actual move easier, here are a few more tips to make moving day as fun and easy as possible

* Have everything packed before friends or the moving truck show up. This makes the day stay smooth, and allows packing to not descend into throwing everything in sight into boxes, which travel unlabelled to the new home, where no one can remember what was in it.

* Have all boxes labeled with what room they go in.

* Have a suitcase packed with essentials for the next day, so that unpacking can be left to the next day. Things to include might be: clothing, an alarm clock, toiletries, and any paperwork regarding the move, a new job, or your new home.

* When loading the truck, place heavy and large items on the bottom, and smaller items on top. Be sure the driver knows the correct address of the new place.

* Don?t forget to eat! Order takeout for all the helpers, so that friends don?t have to leave early because they are starving.

A New York mover can make the day much smoother, both because a one truck load is much easier to pack and unpack than having to make multiple trips, and because drivers are experienced with moves and with loading and unloading. For a move across state lines, if you are leaving the state, a New York mover is practically essential in order to get all household items to the new house or apartment in one trip. (Especially for those who don?t own a vehicle).

Selecting the correct moving company can be a difficult task. One thing to avoid is hiring any company whose only form of advertising is flyers stapled to telephone posts. What you do not need is a moving company that consists entirely of two guys and a battered truck, for they are not likely to have the proper expertise or insurance to protect your belongings.

* How much does moving cost?

It depends on the moving company you have chosen. Some moving companies base their fees on the relocation area, meaning the closer your new location is to the old one, the smaller your bill will be. Moving locally is almost always cheaper than moving a long distance.

* What kind of moving companies should I consider when moving internationally?

If you’re relocating due to your job, your company will probably already have a mover for you. Otherwise, you should be looking to find a mover as early as possible. There is more to consider in an international move than a local move and it pays to get the process started well in advance.

Your ideal choice would be a moving company with international experience. Even better is to find a mover in the country to which you are moving. A mover in that country will be better equipped to move your possessions to your new home quickly, safely, and to help manage paperwork.

Most international moving companies will want to view your possessions before giving a quote, especially if you plan on moving the entire contents of your home. Understand that most international quotes are based on weight or volume of the load, so your initial quote may not be the final price you pay. Thus, it is to your advantage to get the moving company to come into your home and provde as accurate a quote as possible. Some companies will draw up an inventory for you. Ask them for this if they do not mention it. Also, ask them if they will include associated costs and paperwork in the quote, such as taxes, export and import documents, port and airport charges, customs clearance, and any other country specific charges that may apply. Read everything and make sure there are no hidden costs before you hire the moving company.

* Are there extra charges for moving especially heavy items?

Some moving companies require additional payment for heavy objects, but most do not. Carrying heavy items is considered part of a mover’s job and is usually included in the service.

With many available moving companies today, you can choose which among them will give you the service you wish to have. Companies are battling for low-price budget packages since most consumers are looking for a service they can afford.

* What do I need to know about do-it-yourself moving?

Moving is not a simple task. There are things you need to think of before you can move to a new home. However, with proper preparation, you can make things work.

- First, you need to pack your things in an organized way, similar items together, and label each box clearly as to contents.

- Perishable food should all be packed together and kept separate from the other things.

- Secure drawers and doors in furniture items by taping them shut.

- In putting the boxes into the truck, load large boxes with durable items first, so that the smaller, more fragile things can be placed on top.

This is the tough part. Where do you begin if your current home is packed full of years of accumulation? How do I decide what stays and what goes? Here?s a simple checklist to help you in this process??and remember, it?s never too early to begin planning.

Start by space planning to determine what will fit in the new home.

Sorting through your belongings:

Start in rooms that will be easier (ie: not being used).

Take it a room at a time = less overwhelmed.

Start with larger items to decide how much space you need.

Save the family photos & treasures for last.

Call a family meeting to distribute personal belongings and share your memories about each item before giving it away.

Determine what to keep, what goes to family & friends, what to donate, what to trash and what to sell (it?s OK to re-gift).

When in doubt, throw it out. If you can?t bear to lose the memory of an item, take a picture of it before you let it go.

Keep a list and mark all items.

What does go, arrange for an auction (including E-Bay), Garage Sale or Estate Sale.

Have a moving party and share the favorite memories of your home.

Pass on the history of your home to the new owner to keep the memories alive.

There is a fundamental difference between moving a few miles and a few hundred miles. When moving to a new state, you need to put a lot more thought into the actual move than if you were just moving a few miles away.

Moving to Another State - A Little Advice

Moving is a tough job - whether you’re going 15 miles or 1,500. While it’s difficult to move from one town to another, changing states can be even trickier. There are a lot more items to consider when crossing state lines, from different laws to new driver’s licenses.

One of the first things to consider when moving to a new state is your moving company. These big van lines companies often deal with moves between states, but it’s important to check whether the company you’ve chosen is definitely equipped to handle this sort of move. Moving companies that offer long distance moving services do have to meet a couple of additional criteria that in-state movers do not have to. In addition to having a DOT (Department of Transportation) license, they also have to be able to publish their tariffs or price list, and offer neutral arbitration or a dispute program if issues arise.

It is also wise to check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints against the moving company you’ve chosen. Some moving companies have a bad reputation for losing items, arriving late to destinations, and destroying things in their care. It is important to find out if the company you’ve contracted with has had any issues in these areas. Check into more than just one moving company, so if you find out any information that makes you hesitate, you can switch companies.

Also obtain a copy of the booklet, “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move” from your moving company (or before you contract with a moving company), so you’ll know just how much the moving company itself would be responsible for if something happened to your belongings. To make sure that you aren’t being overcharged, check on and price at least three different moving companies - you also have the right to look at their price lists. Get contact numbers and names of individuals to contact in case you need to get a hold of the movers in transit.

When moving from state to state, following these simple steps can help to make sure that you aren’t being mistreated or cheated by any companies. Remember that you have the right to pursue a claim if any of your items are missing or damaged. Do your research and you can make your move go smoother and avoid problems.

Moving is tiresome, stressful and expensive. The following advice should help you keep a handle on your costs when moving.

Advice on Getting a Handle on Costs When Moving

Moving from home to home can be an expensive proposition. Setting aside the costs of procuring a new home - if you’re buying a house you need the money to close on it and other fees, if you’re renting you’ll need to have your security deposit - you also need to have enough money to physically move all of your things from place to place. Budgeting is a good way to make sure that you’ll be able to afford all of the costs that go along with changing households.

One of the first areas that you’ll have to set aside money for is the new home itself. Besides the costs mentioned above, there are several other fees that you’re going to have to pay when you move into your new place. You’ll need to budget money to make your new place livable - this can mean cleaning fees, painting, getting new appliances and more. Depending on whether you’re purchasing your next home or renting, this can run into quite a bit of money. You’ll also need to leave your last home in decent condition - which can mean paying to clean and paint your old house.

Another step is to make sure that you budget enough money for the costs involved with moving your furniture and other household items from place to place. This can mean paying for a moving van rental, or even paying for movers to move your items for you. You can save money by choosing to move your own household items, but depending on the size of your house, it may be worth spending the extra money to have professional movers work for you.

A final bit of advice involves budgeting money for your personal moving expenses. These expenses would be the costs of moving yourself and your family (including pets) from your old home to your new home. If you need to cross a long distance, there’s the cost of plane tickets or other modes of transportation for your family. If you’re traveling a shorter distance, there are still expenses associated with fuel for your car, meals (you probably won’t be able to cook for a while after moving into your new home!) and other incidentals.

Budgeting for your move can seem a little difficult and time consuming, but you’ll appreciate the fact that you’ve set aside the funds to make your move go more smoothly. A spreadsheet to keep track of how much you need to spend is also a good trick to making your budgeted money go further.
